14-02 · Revise a follow-up design and reflect

Use peer questions to make one defensible revision and consolidate course learning.

Final design challenge

On Wednesday 2 December, this activity runs 15:10–15:40, followed by reflection 15:40–16:00.

Challenge cards · Reflection and course feedback · Offline session guide

Choose your project’s case card or one consequential peer question agreed with the instructor. Adapt one aspect of your proposed follow-up experiment under a capacity, cost, dependence or measurement constraint. This is planning only; no new fitting or animal data collection is required.

Minutes Work
0–5 Discuss the constraint and original target.
5–13 Draft the five-line revision.
13–18 Exchange explanations with another group.
18–24 Four 90-second group reports.
24–30 Instructor-led comparison and synthesis.

Write five lines: original target; new constraint; proposed change; consequence for precision/assumptions/feasibility; evidence needed next. More repeated observations can improve measurement or trajectory information but do not create more animals or groups that receive separate treatment assignments. State any changed question, and avoid promising numerical gains without evidence.

Individual reflection and course feedback

Spend ten minutes connecting a design choice to analysis/uncertainty, stating your main result, and explaining how peer questions affected your recommendation. Name one skill you gained and one remaining uncertainty.

Use a separate sheet for five minutes of course feedback: which activity helped, where pacing/support could improve, whether outside-class workload was manageable and what should change. The instructor will explain the collection route. Finish with a five-minute closing discussion.

No substantial follow-up assignment is added. Formal assessment arrangements are confirmed separately.
