# Circulated draft: warm drying improves forage retention

**Deliberately flawed practice report; all observations invented.**

We studied 48 independent drying replicates in a randomized comparison. Retention was analysed with a simple model containing drying method. Warm drying improved retention by 0.18 g. The model coefficient was labelled Warm minus Shade. Therefore warm drying should be used for every forage source. Diagnostics will be added later.

The code reads `data/drying-final.csv`. The circulated dataset contains `bag_id`, `source_block`, `drying`, `n_aliquots`, `initial_dry_g` and `retained_dry_g`. It forms `retained_fraction = retained_dry_g / initial_dry_g`, makes Warm the reference level, fits `lm(retained_fraction ~ drying)`, and labels `dryingShade` as “Warm minus Shade”. Its figure labels a fraction as “grams of retained forage”.
